Marketing Groups

Magnus Spence was the founder and facilitator of the European Asset Management Marketing Director's Group from 1998 to 2003, and since 2004 has been the Chairman of the Asset Management Group in the Financial Services Forum, consisting of 75 invited senior strategic marketers. Magnus leads the group in seminars focusing on European Distribution issues. It acts as a separate entity within the wider Financial Services Forum membership, consisting of another 250 marketers from across Financial Services in the UK. 

A long standing participant at Membership groups run by Institutional Investors such as the International Fund Institutute and the Institutional Investor Institute, Spence Johnson now creates a regular series of Barometer research projects for these groups, measuring the mood of the industry and highlighting key themes, as well as capturing and reporting back on predictions for the future of the industry.

A group on LinkedIn for sales, marketing and product management professionals and industry consultants in the European Asset Management industry to share ideas and issues about the challenges of retail, wholesale and institutional distribution. The group manager is Magnus Spence.

The Fiduciary Management group is a Linked In group managed by Nigel Birch, which acts as a platform for communication between Institutional investors and Fiduciary Management Professionals Internationally.
It is comprised of Fiduciary managers, Pension fund managers and trustees, local authorities and wider institutional investors interested in the rapidly growing Fiduciary space.

Trade Associations

Spence Johnson established an ongoing relationship with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) in 2009, and is now planning a series of projects to develop findings and views among its 14,000 members.

Coaching

Magnus Spence is a founding partner in Coach Alpha, an Executive Coaching partnership specialising in the Investment Business. Set up in 2007, the three directors have long experience in the asset management industry. Philip Wharton was Global Head of HR and on the board of Merrill Lynch Mercury Asset Management. Vivienne Carnt was a long-standing member of the very successful Mercer team in Europe.

In partnership with Alpha Financial Markets Consulting of London, Spence Johnson has created two editions of the Five Futures Project in Spring 2009.
